You should note that the winner of the last WRTC - VE3EJ and VE7ZO do most all of their contesting from the USA and Canada - as opposed to trotting all over the world.  Same with the #2 WRTC team - N6MJ and N2NL.  Dan usually does most of his contesting in San Diego.
