I wouldn't consider the W2SC's, CT1BOH's, and W2GD's as any better,
worse, or otherwise different from those of us who operate from their
home region. Additionally, I certainly don't think they believe
they're any better than the rest of us. They just choose to do things
differently; either for the pileups, the chance to go somewhere warm,
or simply for the change of scenery. Those of us who *do* operate from
home certainly benefit from their efforts in the addition of
multipliers and activity during the contest weekend.
It wouldn't be right to segregate these folks from the selection
process. I recommended privately to Harry the addition of "wild card
teams", to select a couple team captains from those who don't otherwise
qualify under the current rules. This would give the opportunity for
those who operate from all over the world to compete against others who
do the same for the honor of competing at WRTC 2010.
