Steve,

You DELIBERATELY understate everything in an attempt to make your point.

> You're right Bob, fixing everything before Sprint is a major undertaking.
You need:
>
> - A few elements on 20 that is pointed west.
> - A 40 meter antenna pointed west.
> - An 80 meter dipole.
> - One working radio and one working amplifier.

Of course you KNOW that you can't possibly be competitive in Sprint from
Connecticut (or New England) with so minimal a station. And, in your
previous email you WERE talking about "competeing in a Sprint at the top-10
level" weren't you?!

You are always welcome to come here Connecticut and cut through the thorn
bushes, remove the poison ivy and deal with the hundreds of deer ticks to
get to the trees. Then you can spend a whole day (or more) fixing a 40 and
80 meter antenna.

It sounds like you have that kind of time. I don't, and if I did, I would
spend it playing baseball and soccer with my 8 year old daughter.

Since I work 6-7 days a week, usually well in excess of 80 hours, I would
much rather (and do) spend my Saturday evenings with my xyl and 8 year old
daughter rather than do a Sprint.

Sprint vs a Saturday evening with my family? No contest. It's not even an
afterthought!

I had lightning damage from multiple direct hits last August. I have not
even had the time to START to rebuild. Some things are just more important
than radio for me. For those with the time and inclination to operate in
Sprint and other contests - ENJOY!

When I do get back to operating contests again, health permitting, Sprint
won't be one of them.
