In my opinion, the CW Sprint us the closest thing
we have to a WRTC "qualifying run" in the US. The
guys at the top of the CW Sprint are usually at the
top of every contest they enter. I thought that every
active contester in the US was already aware of this.
Which brings up my second question -- don't we already
know who the "best" operators are? Why all the hand-
wringing to figure this out? Active contesters already
know who is "the best" and who are the runners-up.
Maybe it is my naivete, or the fact that I'm not yet
a "WRTC level" operator, but it seems obvious to me.
Active contesters know who is good, and who is great.
We all know where the loudest stations are, and who
built them. My opinion is that WRTC makes more sense as
an "All Star" exhibition of sorts. Calling it the "best
of the best" just seems to stir up another ego hornet's
nest, with lots of ensuing hand-wringing.
I don't have "a dog in this fight" as we say down here,
so take my comments for what they are worth.
