Steve,

You don't even need that much... I made the top ten  in the Phone Sprint a 
couple times when I lived in Ohio using a KW and wire antennas. The ultimate 
goal for everyone has always been to make the 300 QSO club but that bar has 
been raisen to 400 QSO's by N6TR and W4AN(sk)

The top ten of the CW Sprint are the best CW contesters in the USA.
It takes much more than having a big station or even a geographical
advantage to crack the top ten in the CW Sprint.

I would challenge Bob to try it one time. He has a great track record of 
winning DX contests. Why not try something new ?  He would probably be 
humbled by the experience..
