Hi Jeff!
k> I realize it's almost impossible to make everyone happy but ....
k> 1) Only one team from Canada ? They can't be too happy about that !!
k> You would think they would get more respect after VE3EJ/VE7ZO
k> won WRTC-2006.
CANADA has 2006 Champion team anyway + 1 more team
k> 2) Two teams from AF ? Much of the contest activity from AF is by
k> Dxpeditions.
It is not quite correct.
There are a lot of contest attempts from ZS as well as CT3 and EA8
guys activities.
k> 3) Why do the WRTC sponsors continue to group the W4 call area with
k> W1/W2/W3 ? Our propagation is nothing like New England. Where I
k> live near the GA/AL border much of the W8 call area is east of me
k> (plus closer to EU). GA ,SC and FL belong in NA Area #2
Jeff, we can definitely do 6 or even 8 different AREAs for the US but
I don't think it will be a very clever idea. The current selection
went further than previous selections with both US and European AREAs,
but, again, it is impossible to make equal rules for everyone.
If you look at Russian map, for example, you will see 3 time zones in
European Russia and another 8 time zones in Asiatic Russia. What would
you suggest to do in this case?!
Let's just get further !!!
k> 4) 21 teams for EU and only 10 for the USA ?
Don't see any problems with that
k> AS (Other) has 3 teams more or equal to any area in NA ???
There are number very good "OTHER ASIA" stations quite far from
Europe, so we give these guys a chance !!!
k> 5) No young contester or YL teams ???
There are 4 seats for Sponsored teams in the list and I believe it is
possible to create more. We would be more than happy to have these
teams sponsored by contest community.
k> Overall I don't think the breakdown by areas of the world is
k> representative of contesting activity. I guess John (K4BAI) and I
k> will have to pray for another miracle to happen like it did for WRTC-2006...
k> Jeff KU8E
Jeff, as I said earlier it is impossible to satisfy everyone's wishes.
Anyway, we hope to see the strongest possible contesters in WRTC-2010.
73s, Harry RA3AUU
