Well, then you could apply for the DX area you're going
to operate from, and compete with other hams from the
same area, not with hams operating from US.

This requires permanent residence in the DX area, of course.

As soon as we regard WRTC as a competition between national teams,
we are forced to accept that at least core of the activity
has to be done from within one's country (or area).

All this mess can be avoided only at a price of dropping
altogether nationality and permanent residence requirements,
and making WRTC a competition between contesters and not nations.
But this isn't the path WRTC is taking...
